Welcome to the LEARN Lab. This page contains resources you may find useful as a new student. The LEARN staff may specifically recommend some of these activities based on your situation and goals, but all resources on this page are available to all of our clients. Many students have told us these activities really helped give them a jump start as they put their student hats back on.

Northstar Digital Literacy provides free tests of your computer skills. It also has resources to help you build these skills and then demonstrate your knowledge by earning certificates and badges. These credentials are recognized by many employers.

The LEARN Lab recommends new students consider taking at least some of the assessments available through Northstar. Many students have told us the assessments in the "Essential Computer Skills" block (such as "Basic Computer Skills," "Internet Basics," and "Using Email") provided them with useful feedback.

The two videos to the left are well worth watching whether or not you intend to do the goal setting activities.
If you do want to participate in these activities, you should begin by watching the Goal Setting: Part 1 video to the left. After that, you can complete the first activity.
Click here to get a copy of the "Goal Setting Activity Part 1." It can help you to better understand the concepts of good goal setting covered in the first video.
Once you have completed all that, it is time to view the Goal Setting Part 2 video to the left. Then you will be ready to complete the final goal setting activity.
Click here to access a copy of the "Goal Setting Activity Part 2." This is another tool that can help you apply good goal setting strategies in the academic, professional, and personal areas of your life.

Note: If your instructor asked you to complete the Goal Setting activities as an assignment, you can hand-deliver your work or take pictures of it and send the photos to [email protected]
We highly recommend you check out the three videos to the right.
Find out how London taxi drivers learn the streets and neighborhoods of their enormous urban center, and how it affects them once they do.
Discover what continuous learning is, and how you can achieve this goal for a more effective and happier life.
Learn how failure can be used as a tool to succeed. "Everyone makes mistakes." What matters is what you do next.
All three of these videos will help you learn more about mindsets, how to grow your brain, and become a truly successful learner.
